The Westshore Rebels mission is to help players to pursue their passion for high level football by providing exceptional player development on and off the field, while also focusing on academics and community involvement.
Top Reasons to Play for the Rebels:
Player Development - we have a highly experienced coaching team with a track record for success. We also have CFL & CIS players as permanent and guest coaches. Our focus is on teamwork, respect and leadership and we are committed to supporting players achieve their personal and professional goals.
High Level Training - our players train at Starlight Stadium, which includes a professional grade turf field, and nationally acclaimed and accredited facilities and amenities, which are shared with Rugby Canada and the Pacific FC who play in the Canadian Premier Soccer League. Our strength and conditioning programs and facilities are also designed for the development of high performing elite athletes.
Education - we believe it is important for players to continue their education in addition to focusing on football. We provide experienced educational liaisons and partnerships with local educational institutions and programs. Our liaisons are knowledgeable and experienced with educational requirements for Canadian and US educational institutions and familiar with what it takes to play varsity sports while completing an undergraduate program. Our liaisons are available to help our players prepare and apply for University/College, students loans, etc.
Victoria is home to 3 top schools including University of Victoria, Royal Roads University and Camosun College and there are also a number of excellent online and continuing education programs available via our local school district Sooke School District #62, if players are looking to upgrade or pursue specific courses or programs in preparation for application to post-secondary institutions.
Employment - many of our players require full-time or part-time employment to be able to afford to play football in Victoria or to continue to pursue their career interests while still playing football. We provide an employment coordinator that helps our players find work in the community and have a variety of employer contacts for players who may be looking for apprenticeship and/or training opportunities within specific trades.
Community Involvement - we are very fortunate to be playing in the City of Langford. In addition to hosting a variety of elite and recreational sports programs including; Rugby Canada, Pacific FC, Westshore Rebels, Langford offers a variety of recreational opportunities such as swimming, skating, hiking, biking, golf, soccer, lacrosse, hockey.
The City of Langford and our entire local community support our team and all local minor and youth sports programs. All players are immersed in our community and volunteer their time throughout the on and off season. Our players attend community events, help coach our youth teams, attend local events and volunteer their time in many different ways throughout the year.
